DIPLOMA PROGRAM

Diploma of Theology

This program is designed for students that need the basic theological foundation for

academic pursuit in theology. It forms the foundation for which the advanced diploma

program is built.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

TH 311 PENTATEUCH

A study of contents of the Pentateuch against its archaeological background together with

consideration of the Pentateuchal problems of evolution and higher criticism. The laws

which form the basis of Israel’s theocracy will be examined with regard to their content,

meaning, and applicability today.

TH 312 INTRODUCTIONS TO THE OLD TESTAMENT

The student shall grasp the knowledge the people of God, the laws of God and its role, the

worship of God, the doctrine of atonement and its relevance to the New Testament

believer in Christ Jesus.

TH 313 INTRODUCTIONS TOTHE NEW TESTAMENT

A study in the background history to the New Testament events. The student shall

understand the historical, political, and socio-religious development of the Jewish theology

and what led to the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.

TH 314 SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY

The student shall understand the basic Bible fundamentals that form the basis for

doctrines, discipline and experience

TH 315 HOMILETICS

A comprehensive and systematic study on types of sermons and preparations. The art of

delivery and pulpit and time management shall be properly imbibed by the student.

TH 316 LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENTS

There are different types of leadership styles. Students shall survey briefly, types of

leadership styles, but shall focus more on Biblical leadership styles.

TH 317 PASTORAL ETHICS

This is also called pastoral theology. Student will be equipped with practical codes of

conduct for the pastoral profession.

TH 318 EVANGELISM

New approaches to witnessing shall be discussed. Comparism between the traditional

crusade methods and post-modern method shall be studied in the light of the Holy

Scripture.

TH 319 INTRODUCTION TO MISSIONS

Students will learn histories of Missions from various lands and evangelism methods

adopted that brought breakthroughs which led to discipleship and planting of indigenous

churches.

TH 320 THE USE OF ENGLISH

In the course of study, students shall learn the grammatical aspect of Biblical

interpretation.

TH 321 BIBLE AS LITERATURE

The student will, at the end of the course, grasp the basic knowledge of literary criticism

and how to

TH 322 CHURCH HISTORY

The basic knowledge of early church history is the focus. From 33AD to the fall of Roman

Empire will be examined.

TH 323 LIFE OF DAVID

The life of Biblical King David is the focus of this study, and lessons on leadership and

emotional maturity is examined.

TH 324 SPIRITUAL WARFARE

The focus is spiritual formations in the spirit realm. Students will be introduced to spiritual

strategies and rules of engagement.

TH 325 DISCIPLESHIP

Steps to growth and maturity in Christ Jesus; and how to live a victorious Christian life.

The historical landmarks, cultures, peoples, and places in Bible days to enable students

grasp the different changes in times of biblical event.

BS 412 PENTECOSTAL HISTORY

This course shall trace the history of the Pentecostal movement from 1900 to the present

time: its development and influence in the body of Christ.

BS 413 BIBLE & EVOLUTION THEORIES

Students shall, at the end of the course, have a good understanding of what evolution

theories are all about and what the Bible says about creation

Biblical language to enable the student understands the Scriptures better.

Biblical language to enable the student understands the Scriptures better.

BS 416 LUCAN WRITINGS

There is no better way to the history of the life of Christ Jesus than the study of the Gospel

of St. Luke and Acts of the Apostles.

BS 417 DANIEL & REVELTION

The study of the apocalypses: the End Time doctrine of the Bible from the Books of Daniel

and Revelation.

BS 418 INTER-TESTAMENTAL WRITINGS

Historical events that occurred during the years of Silence between the end of the Old

Testament in Malachi and the beginning of the New Testament in Matthew.

BS 419 MARCAN & PETRINE WRITINGS

Comparism between the two traditional books of Peter, though written by John Mark a

disciple of Peter. Focus shall be based on the message of Christ in the two books.

TH 420 ISLAMICS

A study on the historical development of Islam, the theology and practice of the faith.

Battles and Jihad against Christians and the polemics.

TH 421 OLD TESTAMENT KINGS

This is a study of the life, administration, the rise and fall of each of the Old testament

kings and how their live are relevant to the contemporary church leaders.

TH 422 PENTATEUCH

At the end of this course, students shall have the knowledge of creation and a good

background of the Biblical origin of the origin of the Hebrew and how God began to bless

human race through thr seed of Abraham

CE 611 HISTORY & THEOLOGY OF C.E.

A study of the development of Christian thoughts and expression with emphasis on the

emerging educational theories and practices that have influenced C.E in Nigeria

CE 612 TEACHING & LEARNING TECHNIQUES

This is an examination of the principles of teaching and learning. It allows the students to put

these principles into practice in their respective ministries.

CE 613 EDUCATION MINISTRY OF THE CHURCH

This course acquaints the student with the entire educational structure of the local church. It

contains methods and principles of the educational ministry.

CE 614 PHILOSOPHY OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

This course provides the student the opportunity to examine biblical passages and past and

current C.E. philosophies as they develop their own philosophies of C.E. This course should

be taken in the last semester.

CE 615 TEACHING PRACTICE

This is a supervised teaching in a Christian school.

CE 616 C.E POSITION PAPER

The writing of the student’s own philosophy of C.E is proposed here. This course should be

taken in the last semester.

CE 617 EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATIONS

The role of the Christian educator as the head of the educational ministry of the local assembly

is the focus. This includes an introduction to administrative and management techniques as

applied to C.E. ministry.

CE 618 CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENTS

Evaluation, selection and development of materials for use in the curriculum of the local

churches are intended.

CE 619 STORY TELLING

The techniques and methods of effective storytelling and effective use of media, students hear

the presentation of each other.

CE 620 THE CHURCH PRESCHOOL/DAY CARE CENTER

Organization, management, administration and general operation of the local church

sponsored preschool.

CE 621 THE CHURCH ELEMENTARY CENTER

Organization, management, administration and general operation of the local church

sponsored elementary school.

CE 622 JUNIOR CHURCH / WORSHIP CENTER

This course includes the development and administration of children’s worship program in the

local church.

CE 623 MEDIA METHODS IN C.E.

Attention is given to the use of teaching aids appropriate for use in the education ministry of

the local church/ministry, such as flannel-graph, puppetry, cartooning, projectors, cameras and

television.

CE 624 MINISTRIES TO YOUTH

This course includes a thorough study of teaching and shepherding of youths in the church.

This course emphasizes the special needs of youths and their place in the church.

CE 625 MINISTRIES TO ADULTS

This is a study of the total ministry of the local church to the adults in its membership and

service areas. Emphasis is placed on the programs that meet their needs and how they can

relate to the married adults and other groups within the church.
